Software Test Analyst – Vancouver

Description

As a client-facing Software Test Analyst at PQA Ltd., you will be involved in many phases of the software lifecycle documenting and performing structured and context-driven functional software testing. Working directly with clients, you will be responsible for triage of defects, as well as assisting in the training of new team members and reviewing the quality of work prepared by more junior team members. Software Test Analysts are also responsible to provide, through their experience and expertise, a deeper understanding of testing and testing methodologies. Software Test Analysts may be responsible for creating and implementing overall testing strategies to further our goal of exceeding client's expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Define/participate in defining the test approach/strategy
  • Extract testing requirements from functional specifications and business requirements
  • Develop test plans and test cases based on the test strategy, risk analysis and existing infrastructure
  • Write test plans and test cases from functional specifications and from using the product
  • Produce artifacts to support testing activities including test scripts/matrices and test data
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews of functional specifications and design documents
  • Perform structured and context-driven (formal ad-hoc) integration, system, volume (performance and concurrent usage) and regression testing
  • Assist subject matter experts (SMEs) with user acceptance testing
  • Set-up/configure and manage use of test environments
  • Use internal defect tracking and test case management system(s) to document test cases, record defects and record test case execution results
  • Work directly with the clients to triage defects
  • Consult with the client on project status

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor of Computer Science or Computer Engineering; or software testing experience
  • 4 – 7 years of testing experience over multiple projects
  • Work experience with Enterprise Information Systems
  • Experience with planning and implementing testing in Agile/Iterative and Waterfall SDLC environments
  • Experience executing integration, system and acceptance tests
  • Experience analyzing, designing and writing test cases
  • Strong knowledge of writing SQL database queries
  • Experience with test management toolsets, such as HP Quality Center
  • Experience working directly with clients
  • Knowledge of test automation tools, such as Quick Test Pro (QTP), would be considered an asset
